| Condition | : | Damaged by Hurricane Sally. Prior to the passing of Hurricane Sally, the vessel was berthed at Marina along the dock. The dock consists of a corrugated steel sheet pile bulkhead with poured concrete area behind the sheet pile. Outside of the sheet pile are free standing pilings. Pilings are a combination of approximately 12" diameter timber and composite materials. There are no permanently installed cleats or other mooring fittings. The yacht was secured with her starboard side along the bulkhead, with fenders at the pilings. The vessels bow was facing North West. Her mooring lines were secured to Four (4) free standing concrete blocks set on shore. The concrete blocks are reported to weigh approximately 5,000 Lbs., and feature a fabricated steel pipe cleat on top. Additional mooring lines were secured to Two (2) of the pilings. On the morning of September 17, 2020, the crew returned to the vessel and found during the high tide1 the vessels bow had floated over the bulkhead/ low pilings. When the tide receded, her port forward bottom/ chine area became lodged, apparently on a piling. The crew found the vessel listing to starboard, and was fearing that her starboard side main engine exhausts would ingest water and begin down flooding. The crew was unable to see what the port side was lodged on. The crew maneuvered the vessel under her own power off of the piling, and re-tied the vessel in approximately the same place along the bulkhead. During this maneuver, the vessel began taking on water, and was apparently holed at her port forward bottom/ chine area. When the tide receded a broken timber piling was visible in way of the vessels bottom damage. |
