Due to the magnitude of the colision, to make the total repair, so that it will guarantee the original performance, will entail a cost of about 75%/85% of the original value of a new locomotive, the repair execution time being similar to the of a new unit.

    Item Description

    These units of GE C23-EMP Locomotives, 2303 MK and 2304 MB, collided on 11/3/17 with a convoy of 46 wagons. Following information:

    • Locomotives C23-EMP
    • Weight (KG): 106,200
    • Manufacturer: GE Transportes Brazil - Contagem - MG
    • Units: RN2303 and RN 2304

    LDE 2303:
    Operator's cab, deformed structure. Sheet and paint heavily damaged. Diesel engine displaced from its position approximately 1,800 mm. Engine brackets broken, not repairable. Plumbing, flexible, cabling, sensors and other elements torn and unused. Alternator, moved along with the engine. Taking all the smaller components and accessories of the superstructure forward. Cooling tower heavily damaged. Platform, heavily twisted. Bogies require framing verification and deformation of the product upon impact. Traction motors need to be serviced.

    LDE 2304:
    Operator's cab, completely deformed and compressed by impact (inaccessible). Displaced diesel engine, broken and non-repairable brackets. Alternator with broken and non-repairable brackets. Electrical cabinets destroyed. Plumbing, flexible, cabling, sensors and other elements torn and unused. Platform, strongly twisted in several points. Warped, not repairable. Bogies require framing verification and deformation of the product after impact. Traction motors need to be serviced.
